  Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church is a hidden treasure at the southwest end of Bakersfield on Ramos Avenue located behind the Greenfield water district. Sacred Heart church was built in 1952 by farmers that lived in the rural area and remains stronger than ever. The congregation is a wonderful, welcoming tight knit community and the pastor, Father David Enríquez is an awesome human being. He is totally approachable and caring. He has truly transformed this church to a community church as so many people have desired for so many years. He has done more for this parish in the last short 6 months than any other priest has done in the past. Everyone is welcome here no matter what their social status is. CCD, Confirmation, and RCIA classes are open to the entire community and you need not be a parishioner to join.

  This once small but mighty church has done the unthinkable. Once Father Dan left they had some great visiting priest come in, but once we got the permanent priest I found myself questioning my faith. The place I once thought of as a second home now makes me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I was a proud teacher of this parish then Father David came in and turned the whole program upside down. I am deeply saddened that I have become somewhat of a nomad in search of a new home.
