My mother's a youth leader here. They treat her horribly. She dedicated hours of her time to the young people of this Church. The current pastor's wife, Kim Finch, called my mother, and members of the youth group, horrific names. Even making some wavering youth lose their faith in Christ. "This is not how Christians are supposed to behave" said one angry youth. "I want no part of a religion where their leaders are worse than their secular neighbors" When asked why they thought the pastor and his wife reacted with so much anger, one youth replied- "Mrs. Finch was always acting jealous of our youth leader (Barbara Tuttle) but we never thought she would freak out and start calling youth to bad mouth and curse fellow leaders."
This was not always the case.
The former Pastor was a true man of God. Pastor Gayland Allen, now retired. It's sad that a church full of wonderful people, young and old alike, would be lead by such hypocrites. While they are leading this church, I strongly suggest finding somewhere else to worship. As far as prayer, I'm sure everyone will agree the Finch's need ours!

  • Both of these comments are unfair and untrue. Terry and Kim Finch are wonderful, loving people. They've been at North Heights Baptist church only a few months, but already have earned the love and respect of our members. They did not refuse to build a wheelchair ramp. Terry has been looking into it, and brought it before the church. We do not have the money to build one at this time. As for Barbara Tuttle, she is a well-loved and well-respected member of the church, and has done a great job as our Youth Director. I'm so sorry Sarah and Kacy are so upset with the church. They truly need our prayers.

  • Here's a problem with online reviews of churches: We are asked to "rate" the church. You'll see I have rated North Heights with 5 stars, which translates to "I love it". But that doesn't mean that I think North Heights is a perfect church, because it's not. I have attended North Heights for about 14 years, and there have been lots of ups and downs, and I think there will be more of these roller coaster rides in the future. Churches are comprised of people, and we are often imperfect in how we deal with each other.

But I do love the church because I know people at North Heights who love each other and want to live out the Gospel.

So if you need a perfect church you won't find it at North Heights. But if you want to devote yourself to God, grow in spiritual maturity and serve the Body of Christ, you will find people just like you who are trying to do just that.

  • North Heights Church is a friendly and loving church family. Our pastor and his wife are normal people, not saints but just ordinary loving folk. We as a church family are behind them 100%. I have been a member there for more than 50 plus years. We would welcome anyone to come and worship with us. We worship the one true God, Jesus Christ! Lord of all.
